JOGLE on a G-Wing

Out on the bike today seeing a client in worcester so this gives me a chance to give the beast a bit of a run out.

I stopped at a bikers cafe for lunch on the way back. Had my Tea and Beans on Toast, was just about to leave when a couple on a dirty Africa Twin pulled up alongside. Fitted with panniers and a rack, loaded up to the gunnells with rucksacks and camping gear. I introduced myself and asked if they had come far. “Yes, and I need some help - Is there a camping site near hear?” I pointed them up to the cafe. “So where are you from?” I asked hoping to trump their trip with my 2000 mile trek. The replay came “Portugal”. I wished them luck, hoped they enjoyed their stay and left!

Bike ran well. I ran without earplugs for the first time in a while and every ping, clunk and bump I heard, I thought might indicate impending doom, but no, still runs OK. Might need that rubber ring about Monday I think.

Survived boxercise (thanks Karl!) and looking forward to going back after the break. Client meeting was good too. Need to go and wash the beast now. Getting closer. Really need to wash the bike but I notice how much the nights are drawing in, also I’ve got my first boxercise class tonight. Not sure what to expect but its a good friend of mine who is running it so I’m sure he’ll go easy on me. Ha!

I’ve updated the JOGLE route page with links to Google maps. Looking at the South section of the route it looks to me like we could be seeing quite a lot of the sea. We’re taking a lengthy detour on the way back to ride along the north Devon & Somerset coast and through Exmoor. If Kim leaves her hairdryer out of the pannier, I may pick up some Scrumpy. Ha! I’m thinking that this will be a long old haul just in time to see the sunset on the atlantic at Land’s End (or the chippy at Weston if my daughter uses the intercom too much).

I’ve promised a little gift for those who so kindly donated to the Severn Hospice Appeal. You’ll have to wait and see but it should be fun! I just hope there is a shop at John O’Groats, looks like there is bugger all up there according to the page on Undiscovered Scotland. The commentary dashes any glimmer of hope with a single sentence
